Preparation- Data Collection, Data Analysis and
Report Writing.
The courses in Phase I are designed to help
candidates prepare their PhD proposals. All
candidates are required to take the Qualifying
Examination at the end of Phase I before they are
allowed to proceed to the next, i.e. conducting the
actual PhD research.
The Qualifying Examination is a comprehensive
written and oral examination of subject matter in
the discipline. Candidates can be exempted from
sitting for the comprehensive examination if the
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) obtained for
the relevant courses is at least 3.5. Candidates are
given another chance to sit for the comprehensive
examination if they fail in their first attempt. |
