1.
What is the basic requirement for admission to the
GSM-MBA programme?
|
To
qualify for the Master of Business Administration
(MBA) candidates must hold the following
qualifications:
-
Applicants are
required to have an Honours Degree with a CGPA of at
least 2.750 or its equivalent; or,
-
Applicants have
obtained a professional qualification certificate
which is recognized as being the equivalent
with (i) above; or,
-
Applicants with a
CGPA below 2.750 will be considered should they have
passed the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)
with a minimum score of 550 or with working
experience of at least five years at the management
level of an organisation;
-
Applicants with CGPA below 2.500 will be considered
should they have passed the GMAT (Graduate
Management Admission Test) with a minimum score of
550 or with working experience of at least ten years
at the middle management level of a public company
or a government department; or
-
Applicants have obtained whatever other
qualification that is approved by the UPM senate.

Applicants must have proficiency in the language
according to the requirement of the University.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
(English Language)

A
Malaysian candidate must have obtained at least a
credit in English at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia level
or have passed English courses conducted at the
Diploma or Bachelor's level.
-
All
international candidates from countries where
English is not a medium of instruction must have
obtained a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL or 6 for
IELTS. This requirement is not applicable to
candidate applying for admission into the Malay
Language Studies.

Provisional admission may be granted to an
applicant who has obtained a score of 500 - 549
for TOEFL or Band 5 - 5.5 for IELTS or its
equivalent, who upon registration, is required
to enrol and pass the Tertiary English Programme
conducted by the University. An applicant with a
TOEFL score lower than 500 or IELTS lower than
Band 5 shall not be considered for admission. An
applicant with a degree from any Malaysian
public university who has fulfilled the English
requirement for that degree shall be exempted
from such a requirement.

All
international students (except students from
Indonesia and Brunei) must obtain a grade 'M' for
the Malay Language course (BBM 1401 or its
equivalent) to be eligible for conferral of a
degree.

Do you offer specialisation in your MBA programme?
|
|
Yes, we
offer specialisation in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resource
Management, International Business, Corporate Governance and General Management.

3.
Where and when are the classes held?
|
|
Lecture for morning classes will be conducted
either from 9.00 am until 12.00 noon every Monday to
Friday or 2.30 pm until 5.30 pm on Saturday while
lecture for evening classes will be conducted from 6.30
pm until 9.30 pm every Monday to Friday or 2.30 pm until
5.30 pm on Saturday.

4.
What is the duration of the MBA programme?
|
|
It
takes about 18 months for the full time students to complete the entire
programme and at least 2 years for the part time students. Course work
requirement to graduate is with a minimum of 48 credits hours.

5.
What is the medium of instruction for the programme?
|
|
All MBA
classes are conducted in English. You are required to write your class
assignments, Case Study or Project Paper in English.

6.
Is there any financial assistance?
|
|
Currently, we do not offer any scholarships or loans to
students. Students are required to secure their own
funding and there are many banks (RHB bank, Bank Rakyat
or Bumiputra Commerce), which offer competitive interest
rates for study loans such as PTPTN or MARA.

7.
Is there university housing for International Students
or for students from outside the Klang valley?
|
|
Students are required to arrange their own
accommodation. Student Residential Colleges for
undergraduates may have limited room vacancies for
post-graduate students. A student may contact the
managers of the respective colleges directly. This will
be a private arrangement between the students and the
Residential College concerned.

8.
How much is the total fees of the MBA programme? Do I
pay the full amount at the beginning of the course?
|
|
Total fees for foreign students - USD 8,559.00
(A bank guarantee letter is required to certify that you
have sufficient fund for the entire programme).
Total fees for local full time students - RM19,350.00
and
Total fees for local part time students - RM20,250.00
Corporate Governance: Additional fee of RM2,000.00 (MAICSA
registration)
You are not required to pay the entire amount on
registration of the programme. Fees are payable
according to a schedule stated per trimester.

How do I apply?
|
|
To receive an application form and brochure, please send
a RM1.00 stamped (within Malaysian), self addressed
envelope (35cm x 25cm) together with a RM10.00 postal
order payable to “Bendahari, Universiti Putra
Malaysia”. Completed forms must be submitted to the
address below:
