LEARNING PHILOSOPHY AT GSM

Founded in 1997, the Graduate School of Management (GSM) was set up with the specific purpose of further developing and enhancing the knowledge and skills of managers and professionals to equip them for the challenges in the ever-changing and complex business environment. Drawing upon UPM’s extensive experience in education and training, GSM is today recognised as the country’s first and foremost specialist postgraduate business school specifically for professionals in business and management.

A specialist postgraduate business school

GSM is the first business school in Malaysia to create and provides a specific management education and training at the postgraduate level. With such a set priority, GSM is able to channel all its resources towards one goal: quality management education for postgraduates.

A challenging and rewarding learning experience

The course content is rigorous and focuses on developing thinking and problem-solving skills as well as other managerial competencies. With guidance from distinguished local and international professors and from students with extensive work experience, GSM is the perfect place to learn, discuss and share experience and knowledge.

Close collaboration with leading companies in the industry

We maintain close relations with the industry, allowing the students to gain first-hand knowledge from leading companies in the market. This is made possible by working in close collaboration with the companies through industrial consultation programmes, research projects and case studies.

An international perspective on business and management

Candidates will benefit from GSM affiliations with other educational institutions and various research and development centres around the world. The opportunity to gain global and up-to-date information enables the students to acquire a global perspective in business decision-making.

Opportunities to develop business networking

The student population at GSM comprises mostly of executives from various industries, many of whom have more than 10 years experience in companies such as Telekom Malaysia, 3M, IBM, Public Bank, Hewlett Packard, Nestle, UMW and Boustead Trading. GSM provides students with a wonderful opportunity to develop business contacts and exchanging or sharing business ideas and experiences among each other.

Offering flexible programmes for busy mid-career professionals

GSM provides full time programmes as well as evening programmes. These graduate programmes can accommodate busy middle management professionals by minimising the time required to be away from the work place.
